Kerry's chalk and talk session on computational thinking and hangarau matihiko gave me lots to ponder on and will definitely be one I will go back revisit slide set and review. It had a wealth of information and sites to consider whilst we develop our kura policies, program and implementation plan. It is frustrating to note the wealth of information and rauemi available in te reo Pākēhā compared to te reo Māori. Although it is a curriculum area we are required to teach not enough has gone into support kaiako Māori to do so.
I appreciated Maria's talk and chalk session on the up and coming Google certification exam tomorrow and the tips and hints she shared with us.
Scratch - I made a colorful Spiro flower in Scratch! So cool!
Once I actually get my head in the zone, I found it quite easy to identify the steps needed to make the pen move and make the flower. I did have to play around with starting points x - 0 y - 0 and how many degrees to turn, how many times I needed to repeat but once I got the maths sorted in my head and once I had a play around I was able to complete a simple flower. It makes me want to try more!
Kia ora Natasha,
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear you found the Scratch learning easy to start and you are keen to do more. A nice intro to computational thinking.
Ngā mihi,
Maria
