Ōku Whakaaroaro - DFI Session 2: Workflow

So many tips and tricks from todays session!! The focus was on the following...

  • Google Meet:  Was good to revisit good practices when using Google Meet such as making sure to 'mute' oneself when someone is presenting, asking for permission before recording the session and how to maintain a professional presence (i.e sometimes its not appropriate to change your background when on camera).  I found it a challenge to record a meeting, to download it and then upload as an embedded video on my blog.  One of the challenges was that I wanted to rerecord my video in Google meet so that there were no mistakes and the wait time between ending the Google Meet and for the video to appear in Google Drive.  Once those two concerns were alleviated, I found the process of uloading to Blog a very straight forward and simple process.  I did have to play around with the settings in order for the video to sit nicely within the given parameters but was able to figure it out with some playing around.  (SEE VIDEO ATTACHED)

  • Google Keep: Make sure you download app to iPhone and download extension to Chrome! A great tool to capture ideas be it with your voice or written notes. Add images to notes, check tasks off your to-do list, jot notes and reminders. Quickly write down numbers for contacts. Create - share - collaborate with other people on notes and lists.
BEST OF ALL it synchronises across all devices so notes and lists are            updated wherever you are!!!
        So many uses...
Record voice notes. Sit back, relax and listen. No more need to transcribe            and take notes during PLD
        Transcribe notes from pictures
Create drawings and even search handwritten notes. Take handwritten notes         using iPapa or add in handwritten drawings to notes
Drag and drop notes from Keep into Google Docs. No need to cut and paste!         One less 'click' needed
Send notes from Keep to other people to collaborate with
Color-code or label your notes to find them quicker and to please those of us            who like things to be 'pretty'
        Set reminders for yourself
Set checklists for mahi to be completed and set when to complete by. Add                collaborators

  • Gmail: Lots of tips and tricks.  The biggest tip I walked away with was how to select and delete/unread MANY emails at once.  I also learnt how to search using filters, schedule emails to be sent at a certain time and how to add signatures to my outgoing emails.  All these tips are going to make my life easier!  Will help me safe time and will attend to the need of my brain to have things organised and tidy.

OTHER KAUPAPA:

  • Using calenders
  • Tabs
  • Embedding videos into Blogs
