What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
Wow! I am blown away with how big ManaiaKalani has grown since I first visited in 2016/17! It is exciting to know we are all connect and that we share a shared language which is the pedagogy and kaupapa language exclusive to Manaiakalani.
Interesting to note the Implementation Programme:
Term 1 - Learn
Term 2 - Create - Am loving this term and being given the time to play and create!!!
Term 3 - Share
Term 4 - Focus on bringing all together!
Across all clusters there is a common theme - We love what we are learning but are time poor. It comforting to hear that others also feel they are in the same position as I am.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional
I appreciated the time given to look at and evaluate others Google Sites. It was interesting to note aesthetic that were visually appealing and features that were conductive to the user experiences. I found these helpful for when we moved onto working on our own sites in order to improve the user experience.
Some hints I found invaluable were:
- Make sure site is user friendly for the junior school whom are all using iPads
- Try and make site so that there is no scrolling needed on iPads
- Create a folder for all items to be used on the site and make sure the folder is shared to public
I spent the afternoon having fun and creating a new banner for my site and new buttons for each of the pages I want in the site.
Next I will start adding content on to each of the pages in preparation for Term 3.
